Appointments

Urgent Appointments

We always have on the day appointments with the duty team which are released at 8am every day. These appointments are for patients who are unwell, symptomatic and cannot wait for routine appointments.

However, if your condition has been ongoing for a long time, we may ask you to book a routine appointment.

The duty team consists of GPs, paramedics, advanced clinical and nurse practitioners and a prescribing pharmacist.

To request an urgent appointment for today, see our opening times:

You can also use the NHS App to make and cancel appointments and order repeat prescriptions. Please download the app for other options.

When you call, our care navigators will ask you questions about your health condition and will use your answers to direct you to the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Routine Appointments

Routine appointments are available for all GPs and nurses and can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance. Please ring after 11am Monday to Friday to book one of these. However, some appointments are released 2 weeks in advance – we will advise you during your call whether these are available.

To request a routine appointment in advance, see our opening times:

Our care navigators will ask questions about your health condition in order to assign you quickly and effectively to the most appropriate clinician.

Patients can book in to see any clinician, however, for consistency it is always advisable to go back to the same clinician who has been dealing with an issue.

Different clinicians deal with different issues. For example, menopause or perimenopause issues – we would advise booking in with one of our female GPs.

Patients can choose if they would like to be seen face to face or have a telephone call with a clinician.

We have a regular skin lesion clinic to check patient’s moles. Please call to make an appointment.

Patients aged between 9 and 75 years old can self-refer for physiotherapy via our website. The physiotherapists will contact you directly once you have submitted a request.

Please be assured all staff are bound by confidentiality.

Minor Surgery Unit

We have a custom-built and superbly equipped minor surgery suite on the premises. Our standards are such that we are an approved provider of secondary care minor surgery for local primary health care trusts and currently manage a range of minor operations on behalf of the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The clinicians conduct simple minor surgical procedures in the surgery and Dr Omid Entekhabi-Fard leads the team who have specific skills in more complex minor surgical procedures. Our waiting time to the operation is short and, as well as saving you time, this service saves you a couple of trips to the hospital.

If you have a minor skin lesion that concerns you, please see your GP who may refer you to the unit.

The unit is also able to provide a male sterilisation service (vasectomy under local anaesthetic). This service is accessed through your GP on the NHS or privately.

Get Fast Help from a Pharmacist

Pharmacists can give you advice on a range of conditions and suggest medicines that can help.

They may also be able to offer treatment and some prescription medicine for some conditions, without you needing to see a GP (this is called Pharmacy First). Conditions they can treat as part of Pharmacy First are:

  • Earache (aged 1 to 17 years).
  • Impetigo (aged 1 year and over).
  • Infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over).
  • Shingles (aged 18 years and over).
  • Sinusitis (aged 12 years and over).
  • Sore throat (aged 5 years and over).
  • Urinary tract infections or UTIs (women aged 16 to 64 years).

If you go to a pharmacy with one of these conditions, the pharmacist will offer you advice, treatment or refer you to a GP or other healthcare professional if needed.

They will then update your GP health record.

If you are not within these age ranges, a pharmacist can still offer advice, but you may need to see a GP for treatment.

More information can be found on how pharmacies can help – NHS (www.nhs.uk).
